Free is €0 with no credit card. It is a plan, not a trial, so there is no date on which your codes stop resolving and no card that has to be added to keep them alive.
Expiry is something you switch on
A start date, an end date and a scan cap are optional Pro controls for campaigns that should stop on their own. Leave them unset and the redirect engine has nothing to enforce.
Static codes have nothing to expire
A static code encodes its payload directly in the image — no redirect, no lookup, no account state involved at scan time. It also never counts against the dynamic code allowance on any plan.
Retention is about history, not uptime
Scan events are purged once your plan window elapses: 30 days on Free, 12 months on Pro, 24 on Business, 36 on Agency. Losing old analytics rows does not affect whether the code still resolves.

Upgrade changes capacity, not validity
Moving to Pro lifts the dynamic code allowance and adds design, scheduling and redirect controls. Codes created on Free keep working exactly as they did; nothing is reissued.
