Linktree migration step-by-step

Moving from Linktree to a self-hosted Link Hub takes about 30 minutes and avoids breaking any existing QR codes. The steps: export your Linktree links, recreate them in a QRCode Suite Link Hub, set up a redirect from your old Linktree URL, and switch the URL in your bio. Your printed QR codes keep working because they encode your own domain — only the destination behind it changes.

  1. 1

    Export your Linktree links

In your Linktree dashboard: Settings → Account → Export. You get a JSON with link titles, URLs, icons, click counts. If you do not have export access on your plan, copy the links manually — the average Linktree user has 8-12.

  2. 2

    Recreate as a Link Hub

QR Suite → Link Hubs → New. Add each link as a button with the same title and target URL. Match Linktree styling roughly — your Link Hub can use brand colours, a header image, and your own typography.

  3. 3

    301-redirect your Linktree URL

Linktree does not support adding a redirect to your linktr.ee/yourname URL. Instead, change every external profile (Instagram bio, Twitter, business card) to point to your new domain. Linktree page becomes a "this page has moved" notice via Linktree settings.

  4. 4

Switch the URL in your bio

Update every bio (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, email signature) to your new yourdomain.com/links URL. Existing QR codes on printed materials that point to your domain keep working — only the destination changes.

Frequently asked questions

What is QRCode Suite?

QRCode Suite is a premium WordPress plugin that generates branded, dynamic QR codes directly inside your WordPress dashboard. Scan data is stored on your own server — not on a third-party SaaS platform — and WooCommerce orders can be attributed to specific QR codes.

Does QRCode Suite require a separate subscription?

The Free plan is available at no cost. Paid plans (Pro, Business, Agency) are licensed per WordPress site and billed monthly or annually. There is no separate per-scan fee.

What QR code types does QRCode Suite support?

QRCode Suite supports 15 QR code types: URL, vCard, Wi-Fi, SMS, Email, WhatsApp, PDF, Coupon, Plain Text, Social profile, WooCommerce Product, WooCommerce Reorder, Link Hub, Phone, and Dynamic URL.

Can I change the destination of a QR code after printing it?

Yes. Dynamic QR codes use a short redirect URL. You can update the destination from your WordPress dashboard at any time without generating or reprinting the code.

Is QRCode Suite GDPR-compliant?

Yes. QRCode Suite hashes IP addresses with SHA-256 before storage so no raw IPs are ever saved. It also filters bot traffic automatically and includes configurable data-retention settings.
