WhatsApp QR code

A WhatsApp QR code opens a chat with your business number the moment someone scans it — with a message already typed, so the customer only has to press send. On QRCode Suite the WhatsApp type is dynamic: the printed code points at a short redirect address, and the phone number and prefilled message live in the dashboard, where you can change them at any time without reprinting the poster, packaging or table stand they sit on. Every scan is counted, with device and country recorded from a hashed IP, never a raw address. One clarification, because searchers regularly confuse the two: this is not the QR code WhatsApp shows when you log into WhatsApp Web. That one is generated by WhatsApp itself and expires within seconds. This code works in the opposite direction — it lets customers start a conversation with you.

WhatsApp QR codes are part of the Pro plan (€9 per month, or €90 per year).

Opens the chat, message included

The scan resolves to a WhatsApp chat link built from your number, with an optional prefilled message — "Hi, I would like to book a table" — already in the input field. The customer presses send; you get a conversation instead of a missed call.

Change the number without reprinting

The WhatsApp type is dynamic: the code on paper encodes a short redirect address, and the number and message are read from the dashboard at scan time. Hand the account to a colleague or switch to a business number and every printed code follows.

Every scan counted

Scans are recorded with device type and country, from a hashed IP rather than a raw address, and bot hits are detected and excluded from counts. The Pro plan tracks 5,000 scans per month with 12 months of retention.

Schedule it, cap it, protect it

Like any dynamic code on the platform, a WhatsApp code can carry a start and end date, a maximum scan count, or a password gate — useful when the number belongs to a limited campaign rather than a permanent storefront.

Not the WhatsApp Web login QR

WhatsApp shows its own QR code when you link a browser or add a contact in the app. Those codes are generated by WhatsApp and expire quickly. This code is the reverse: a permanent, printable code that starts a chat with you. The two are unrelated.

Know the limits

The scanning phone needs WhatsApp installed — without it, the chat link has nothing to open. We count the scan, not the conversation: whether the customer actually sent the message is only visible in your own WhatsApp. There is no WhatsApp Business API integration and we never send messages on your behalf.

Frequently asked questions

What is a dynamic QR code?

A dynamic QR code encodes a short redirect URL served by QRCode Suite. The actual destination is stored in your workspace and can be changed at any time, so you can update where a printed QR code points without reprinting it.

How many dynamic QR codes can I create?

The Free plan includes 3 dynamic QR codes. Pro and above include unlimited dynamic QR codes. Static QR codes never count against the limit.

What is a conditional redirect?

A conditional redirect sends scanners to different destinations based on rules — such as device type (iOS vs Android), country, time of day, or scan count. Conditional redirects are available on the Pro plan.

What formats can I export QR codes in?

All plans support PNG and SVG export. Pro adds CSV data export. Business adds XLSX export, branded PDF reports, and bulk generation with CSV import.

Can I add a logo or custom colors to my QR codes?

Yes, on Pro and above. Custom logo embedding, gradients and frames are part of the Pro design toolkit; the Free plan uses standard colours.
